Overview
This is the ONE-BAR Warden Guard — the Oakensoul version of the Pure Warden Guard healer, and the second build in The Warden Awakens series. By sacrificing the back bar for the Oakensoul Ring, you get 17 constant buffs and a dramatically simplified gameplay loop. The trade-off is real — no sword and board back bar, no bar-swap flexibility. But on a build where your whole job is to stand next to someone and keep them alive, that simplicity is a strength. The result: 12% passive Healing Done, 17 constant buffs, and 30% of your teammate's damage absorbed onto you via Mystic Guard. Built for Update 49 with a U50 Class Mastery preview included. For the two-bar version with full bar-swap flexibility, see The Unbreakable Guardian guide.
Gear Breakdown
Almalexia's Mercy is your first five-piece. When you take damage — and you will, because you're pulling 30% of your teammate's damage onto yourself — it procs a heal on you and your group within 7 meters. Every 3 seconds. You don't press anything, it just happens. Trial by Fire is your second five-piece. Craftable with only 3 traits needed. The 2 and 3-piece give you Max Health and Armor. The 4-piece gives you 4% Healing Taken. And the 5-piece — while you're under any elemental status effect, you gain 8500 Armor. For the monster set, we're running just the Earthgore head — one piece for 4% Healing Done. That 4% stacks on top of Oakensoul's Minor Mending, so you're sitting at 12% increased Healing Done passively. Oakensoul Ring is the mythic. It locks you to one bar but grants 17 constant buffs including Minor Mending, Minor Heroism, Major Resolve, and more. The entire build identity revolves around this ring — it automates your buff uptime so you can focus entirely on guarding and healing.
Skills & Bar Setup
Five skills, one ultimate — all on a single bar. Bull Netch is your stamina lifeline. Oakensoul locks you out of your back bar, which means you can't heavy attack with sword and board to get stamina back. And you need stamina — blocking is everything on this build. Bull Netch restores stamina over 25 seconds, costs nothing to cast, and purges a negative effect every 5 seconds. The Major Brutality and Sorcery are redundant with Oakensoul — you're running this purely for stamina sustain. Polar Wind is your burst heal. It scales off your Max Health, and with this much health on the build, it hits hard. Instant heal on yourself plus a heal-over-time, and it also heals a nearby ally. Budding Seeds is your ground-targeted area heal. It ticks every second while it grows, then blooms after 6 seconds for a burst. You can recast it to bloom early if someone's in trouble. Your teammates can also activate the Harvest synergy for extra healing. Mystic Guard is the build. You tether to your teammate, and 30% of the damage they take gets redirected to you instead. You both gain Minor Vitality — 6% more healing received. The tether breaks at 15 meters, so stay close. Deceptive Predator is your escape and your passive damage reduction. When you activate it, you get Major Expedition and snare immunity for 4 seconds. While it's slotted — even without pressing it — you get Minor Evasion, which is 10% less damage from area attacks. In Cyrodiil, where the ground is covered in damage, that's always working. Enchanted Forest is your ultimate. 90 cost, heals the most injured ally in the area, then drops a heal-over-time for 6 seconds. If it heals someone under 50% health, you get 20 ultimate back. With Minor Heroism from Oakensoul already feeding you ultimate, you can use this frequently.
How to Play
Cast Bull Netch. Tether Mystic Guard to your partner. Stay within 15 meters. Block. Spam Polar Wind when health dips. Drop Budding Seeds for sustained group healing. Pop Deceptive Predator when you need to reposition. Drop Enchanted Forest in emergencies. That's it. You are a wall that heals. Your teammate takes damage, you absorb a third of it, your armor shrugs most of it off, and Almalexia's Mercy heals you back passively. Rinse and repeat. The one-bar simplicity means there's no bar-swap timing to manage, no buff rotation to track. Oakensoul handles your buffs. You handle your teammate.
U50 Class Mastery Preview
Update 50 launches June 8th and brings Class Mastery Passives. Because this is a pure Warden — no subclassing — you'll unlock passives that subclassed builds can't access. You pick 2 of 5, no skill points required. For this build, we're using the same two picks as the two-bar version: Glacial Obstinance and Bountiful Harvest. These were covered in detail in the two-bar Unbreakable Guardian guide and video — the mechanics apply to this build the same way. Glacial Obstinance upgrades Bond with Nature to also trigger off Winter's Embrace abilities, and at full health grants 15% Weapon and Spell Damage for 10 seconds. Bountiful Harvest upgrades Nature's Gift to grant you and your group Major Heroism for 3 seconds plus 125 magicka and stamina, up to once every 2 seconds. The U49 build is already strong. The U50 version is significantly more powerful — Class Mastery Passives reward pure Warden play with mechanics that amplify everything this build already does.
The Warden Awakens Series
This is video 2 in The Warden Awakens series — all pure Warden, all landing before Update 50 goes live on June 8. Video 1: The Unbreakable Guardian — two-bar Pure Warden Guard healer with full bar-swap flexibility, Ozezan the Inferno monster set, and Mystic Guard on both bars. Video 2 (this one): The ONE-BAR Warden Guard — Oakensoul version of the guard healer for simplified gameplay. The series explores pure Warden healing in ESO PvP — builds that don't subclass and will benefit from Class Mastery loyalty bonuses in U50.
