Overview
The Shield Healer Arc Plarden flips the script on PvP healing. Instead of trying to out-heal incoming damage, you prevent it from ever landing. Damage shields in ESO PvP are incredibly powerful because they bypass Battle Spirit's healing reduction — a shield applied at full value is worth more than a heal reduced by 50%. This build stacks shields from Brands of Imperium, Reviving Barrier, and Life Giver to keep your group wrapped in layers of damage absorption that enemies have to chew through before they can even touch health bars. Built on the same Arc Plarden triple-class framework — Templar's Restoring Light, Arcanist's Curative Runeforms, and Warden's Animal Companions — this variant swaps Spell Power Cure and Earthgore for Brands of Imperium and Ozezan the Inferno. The result is a tankier, more reactive healer that excels when your group is taking heavy burst damage. With 3 Heavy / 3 Medium / 1 Light armor and 44 points into health, you're extremely hard to kill while dishing out shields that make your entire group feel unkillable. The Bastion CP star amplifies all your damage shields by 2%, and From the Brink boosts your healing on low-health targets for when shields aren't enough.
Gear Breakdown
Brands of Imperium is the core of this build. When you take damage, it fires off a damage shield to you and nearby allies — in PvP where you're constantly under pressure, this procs constantly and keeps shields rolling on your group without you even pressing a button. It's on jewelry and front bar weapon for the full 5-piece bonus. Trial by Fire on body pieces stacks resistances every time you heal, which happens non-stop and keeps you personally tanky. Ozezan the Inferno on head and shoulders adds passive offensive pressure — when you deal damage, it launches a flame projectile at nearby enemies. This gives your group free damage that enemies have to respect even though you're a healer. Blessing of the Potentates on the back bar sword and shield reduces your ultimate cost by 15%, which is critical because both Life Giver and Reviving Barrier are expensive ultimates that you want to cycle as often as possible. Infused jewelry with Magicka Recovery keeps your sustain healthy for all the shield and heal casting you'll be doing.
Skills & Rotation
Your front bar is your active healing and shield application station. Evolving Runemend from the Arcanist line is your spammable burst heal — fast, efficient, and it gives you a way to quickly top someone off. Blessing of Restoration heals your group in a cone and applies buffs. Radiating Regeneration and Echoing Vigor are your bread-and-butter HoTs that keep passive healing ticking on everyone. Deceptive Predator gives you Major Expedition for repositioning and Minor Evasion — essential for staying alive in PvP. Life Giver as your front bar ultimate is a triple-burst heal that also applies shields — it's your biggest emergency button and synergizes perfectly with the shield-stacking theme. Your back bar handles defense, sustain, cleansing, and additional healing. Channeled Focus is non-negotiable — the resistances and magicka return keep you alive and casting. Extended Ritual provides your group cleanse for removing DOTs and debuffs. Blue Betty gives Major Sorcery for spell damage and restores magicka over time. Chakram of Destiny from the Arcanist line is a mobile burst heal you can fire at allies under pressure. Soul Burst scribed with Healing, Sage's Remedy, and Resolve gives you an area heal that also buffs your group's defenses. Reviving Barrier on back bar is your defensive ultimate — the massive damage shield it provides to your group is the single strongest shield in the game and the reason this build exists.
Shield Healer vs Standard Healer
Run this build when your group is facing heavy burst damage — organized groups, bomb squads, or when you're getting focused by multiple enemies. Shields prevent damage before it lands, which means your group doesn't yo-yo between full health and dead. The standard Arc Plarden with Spell Power Cure gives your group more offensive power through Major Courage, making it better when your group is the aggressor and you need to help them secure kills. This shield variant is for when survival is the priority. If your duo or small group has enough damage and just needs to not die, this is the build. The two builds also pair well together — if you're running two healers in a 6-man, have one on standard Arc Plarden for Major Courage and one on this shield variant for damage prevention. Between Brands of Imperium procing passively, Reviving Barrier's massive group shield, and Life Giver's burst shields, your group will have shield uptime that makes enemies feel like they're hitting a brick wall.
